Prayers for Indonesia
Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your holy name. Almighty and Most Merciful God, today we bow down as a sign of gratitude for all Your goodness and Your infinite love. We magnify your name because you love us, thank you for your great love reflected through your son Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit. At this moment, we pour out our hearts before You, and we cry out for West Timor, as we ask, O Lord, that we can unite to love each other and care for each other and that you have mercy on us. Oh God, look at what, the people of West Timor, Indonesia, have experienced and we yearn “to see God’s salvation on this island.” We ask forgiveness for everything that is not in accordance with your will, we are tired with the burden of sin and the heavy burden of life, therefore forgive us and lighten our burden, remembering your promise as your word says: Come to me all who are weary and heavy laden, I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light (Matthew 11: 28-30). We ask this in the name of your son Jesus. Amen!

Mission Moment from Indonesia
Throughout the years, the work of both the Kasema (Koperasi kasih sejahtera utama; Primary Love and Welfare Cooperative) and Yayasan Alfa Omega (YOA; Alfa Omega Foundation), the arms and primary development organizations of the Evangelical Church of West Timor (GMIT), has benefited thousands of families. Kasema in partnership with Yayasan Alfa Omega has carried out social projects in the areas of local economic development, capacity building for youth and women, and have facilitated scientific and eco-sensitive field practices in agriculture, livestock rearing, and in business and entrepreneurship for students.

Kasema and Yayasan Alfa Omega (YAO) in West Timor has changed the lives of men, women, youth, and students, improving their quality of life, and their family income, quality of education, and developing their communities. To support the congregation’s economy, Kasema provides soft loans to members and provides technical assistance in empowering members’ economic empowerment. In the current phase of the program, fifty members of the Bimaous congregation have managed 2 hectares of horticultural crops (tomatoes and other vegetables) to increase family incomes and to ensure healthy daily food consumption. Also, currently 10 cows are given to ten families of the congregation and this is envisioned as a rolling aid where these 10 cows will be kept for one year and their calves will be distributed yet again to 10 new members to look after, and it is hoped that in this way the number of cows will increase and the number of members who will get cattle will also increase every two years. We see the change reflected in the testimonies of the women and students who completed their projects. We are glad that Global Ministries was able to partner with us in this program of Kasema, and we are honored to be partners of this great work of love.

As the Director of Yayasan Alfa Omega and Supervisor of Kasema, I want to share that we are grateful to our brothers and sisters of the Disciples of Christ and the United Church of Christ, who through Global Ministries partners with the work of Kasema and YOA, and help us generate many stories that have filled our hearts with joy and happiness with each project or work group that we envision and actualize along with the most vulnerable families in our island of West Timor in Indonesia.
