Pray with Kenya, August 14, 2022
Lectionary Selection: Psalm 80:1-2, 8-19
Prayers for Kenya
Lord, I ask that you continue to have your hand on the nation of Kenya and provide the leaders with the wisdom to guide your people in the right direction, especially in this crucial period as Kenya prepares for elections. Lord, I ask that you speak to them in different ways so that they make decisions that honor you and improve the people’s lives. I pray that you rescue the nation of Kenya from the trouble and violence that can come during election periods. Restore your people in their confidence in you, Lord. Sometimes when facing trouble and suffering, we sense your absence. The nation of Kenya is longing for your face to turn toward its people rather than away from them. Let your face shine upon them with the light of grace. God, we recognize your power, especially the power to save your people. We pray that the church of Kenya to be like a vine – needing support but spreading and fruitful. We pray that keep Kenya peaceful before, during, and after elections in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
Mission Stewardship Moment from Kenya
Misleading Theologies are some of the devastating concepts that put the church in Africa and its members in danger. After leading a series of misleading theologies symposia at the All Africa Conference of Churches (AACC), I had the opportunity to share about misleading theologies with different groups of church leaders on the continent. I held a training session on Misleading Theologies with Salvation Army officers from 18 countries that met in Nairobi in June 2022. We shared on a variety of topics, including healing. I am grateful for the participation of the AACC in a conference like this.
