Pray with Kenya, March 21, 2021
Lectionary Selection: Jeremiah 31:31-34
Prayers for Kenya
Eternal God of glory, no one is like you. You are true and wonderful, great and strong, alive and fearful, glorious and powerful, and your power is liberating. All power is yours. Thank you for always answering our prayers. We ask forgiveness on behalf of the nation of Kenya. Forgive the nation for we have not walked in your ways. We repent of all wickedness, injustice, tribalism, hate, idolatry and we have not given you your rightful place in this nation. Where we have exalted every idol before you, please forgive us, Lord Jesus Christ, have mercy on us. Grant us your mercy, Lord Jesus Christ. Please intervene for this country, Lord. Your word says: Ask of me, and I will give you the nations for an inheritance. The ends of the earth for possession. Lord, we ask you for the land of Kenya. Lord remember your people, those who are oppressed and trampled by situations of hunger and thirst. O Lord, you are a merciful and compassionate God, slow to anger, rich in goodness and faithfulness, deliver our country from evil deeds. In the political domain, Jeremiah’s message, especially that concerning the new covenant, should remind us of the kingdom of God which will be characterized by total harmony when all kinds of injustice in society are erased, and there will be perfect knowledge of YHWH by his people. Lord Jesus Christ help leaders of this nation to be faithful to you, Lord. May they be vessels to bring this land back under your control, Lord, may there be peace and love, prosperity, loyalty, and blessing in this country in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
Mission Stewardship Moment from Kenya
Even though the last year has been difficult for many people, many say they are optimistic about the challenges of the pandemic. The Organization of Africa Instituted Churches (OAIC) offers support to church members by providing seeds to those who wish to start agriculture projects to help feed their families.
We have seen the joy of church members who were desperate for aid at the beginning of the pandemic. After they received seeds, they planted them and started to harvest vegetables to eat and sell for the survival of their families.
Pray that God reveals a new generation of leaders who will come with new innovative ideas for the development of Kenya.
Pray for OAIC to continue with its vision through this difficult time.
