Pray for Korea on Sunday, June 5, 2016
Lectionary Selection: Luke 7:11-17
Prayers for Korea:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We worship you for who you are, the great “I Am.” The splendor of your majesty prevails as we rise each day and witness the display of your incomparable great power for us. You are more than enough in every area of our lives. Your immense love and compassion for us reaches far beyond any depth that we could ever comprehend.
Thank you Lord, that you hear every spoken, unspoken, or liquid prayer that we utter unto you. You not only meet us at the point of our need but you are He who does immeasurably more than all that we could ever ask or imagine. There is nothing too hard for you! You can deliver us from any situation, even those that appear hopeless or dead in our eyes. You respond to the cry, call, and plight of your people all around the world. There is no language barrier with you.
Thank you for your tender grace and mercy. Thank you for the gift of life and the dawn of a new day in which we can experience true joy. It is in the name of Jesus that we pray,
Amen
Mission Stewardship Moment from Korea:
Children’s Day (Eorini nal) is a national holiday that is celebrated here in South Korea on May 5th. Schools are closed in observance of the holiday in which festivities take place throughout the city of Seoul. The day not only celebrates children, but it honors parents, teachers, and adults whose lives impact the lives of children.
As I reflect on this day, I think about the children at Global Sarang School and the many times that I am greeted with “안녕하세요” (Hello) as I walk down the halls. Or, the many questions that I received such as: 한국어를 말 하나요 (Do you speak Korean), 나이가 어떻게 되세요 (How old are you), and 당신은 키가 얼마나 (How tall are you)? I vividly remember the moment when the entire 1st grade class burst out of their classroom to greet me and Ms. M.K with warm hugs and handshakes.
Children and their unique qualities are celebrated everyday here at Global Sarang School. It is the nation’s first authorized multi-cultural alternative school, providing education for multiracial and multi-cultural kids. The students are from various countries including: China, Egypt, Thailand, Philippines, Mongolia, and Ghana.
Global Sarang is tuition free and provides a wide array for programs to enrich the students’ lives and educational growth. In addition to an exceptional education, the school offers counseling services for group and one-on-one counseling; a music program with orchestra, band, and choral arts; and language courses in Chinese, Korean, and English.
