Youth Group at St. Andrew’s
Thank you for holding our ministry here at St. Andrew’s in prayer.
Thank you for holding our ministry here at St. Andrew’s in prayer. We’ve started our third membership class, continue to have 3-6 baptisms each month, and find ourselves in a blossoming faith community. It’s exciting and humbling. A joy for us is the church youth group we started last year – small but energetic!
For International Prayer Day in October, for Advent and now for Palm Sunday, the youth at St. Andrew’s United Reformed Church in Brockley (Southeast London) have designed and painted giant murals for display in our sanctuary. Starting with a Bible Study, we read the Biblical account of the events and explore related themes. Much discussion leads to the choice of a single representative word, and then the ideas for images begin to flow. The basic guidelines are BOLD and Simple. (Coincidentally, our Jr. Church’s rainbow mobile – inside a hula hoop – displays a parallel color scheme!) Our Youth Group is for teenagers (13-18 years) and meets monthly for a Sunday afternoon. The Youth Group’s concurrent project is coming up with knock-knock jokes and writing a rap for the disciples for a Palm Sunday drama! Their Nativity Pantomime (Christmas pageant with slapstick and knock-knock jokes), involving 33 people of all ages, was a big hit!
