Indeed, things took an interesting turn on February 1st, when His Majesty the King dismissed the parliament and declared a State of Emergency. Suddenly phones, email and the Internet went dead. No one really knew what was going on. Although the telecommunications are open again, you probably know as much about the situation as we do, given the censorship of the press here. His Majesty has appointed ten new ministers while the previous ministers remain under house arrest. We join with the Nepali people who hope and pray that His Majesty’s bold action will bring peace and order to a nation that has been torn by conflict and corruption. While we have experienced some inconvenience and uncertainty, we have not felt personally threatened in any way by the current state of affairs. The most difficult part is not knowing what to expect from day to day. Please uphold this country, its leaders and people in prayer. Nepal may appear to be a tiny, insignificant dot on the map, but we love it.
