Together Stop AIDS & Together Share Health:Baoshan Christian Council held the anti-drug and AIDS prevention publicity campaign in Yunnan China
On December 1st, 2022, known as World AIDS Day, Baoshan Christian Council and Municipal AIDS Prevention Office together held the annual anti-drug and AIDS prevention publicity campaign on the street in Baoshan City in China’s southwestern Yunnan Province. It was the 35th “World AIDS Day” with the theme “Together Stop AIDS & Together Share Health”, which was announced by the State Council AIDS Working Committee Office of China. The purpose of the project is to invite all people to join hands in dealing with the risks and challenges brought about by the AIDS epidemic.
During this one-day campaign, pastors, students of the Christian Training Center, and church volunteers introduced AIDS prevention knowledge by singing hymns, folk songs, and dances on the main street of the city. They distributed around 5,000 copies of materials to publicize the knowledge of anti-drug and AIDS prevention to the local residents and visitors.
Baoshan Christian Council has held the anti-drug publicity campaign on the street on December 1st (World AIDS Day) and June 26th every year since 2007. This project is not just to fight against AIDS, but to raise awareness about the ongoing need for prevention education and a greater understanding of how AIDS continues to affect communities across the city and the province. At the same time, the churches in Baoshan shared God’s love with the people.
The Global Ministries partnership has been working with Baoshan and Yunnan provincial Christian Council since 2021 to facilitate their ethnic minorities ministries in the range of health, education, and agricultural development. On the webinar hosted by the East Asia and Pacific office of the Global Ministries on November 30th, we live-streamed this annual anti-drug and AIDS prevention publicity campaign in Baoshan. We appreciate your prayers and support for the social services and ministry programs serving the prevalent communities in the mountain province in western China.
