Upper Midwest Disciples Visit Partners in Poland
A group from the Upper Midwest Region of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) will travel in support of our Global Ministries missionaries, Doug and Liz Searles, serving in Lodz, Poland on September 1-16, 2010. Participants will gain an understanding of our overseas missionaries work and engage with pastors and lay people in Poland so that they can bring back the experience and share with local congregations. This is an outreach mission of support that will be valuable in extending our relationships with the Evangelical Reformed Church of Poland (KER) and with our missionaries.
The time in Poland will include visits to points of historical and cultural interest as well as with current church groups in Poland. For example, Wroclaw, Warsaw, Krakow, Auschwitz, etc. Wroclaw has a new congregation. It is also home of “church island” and provides a seminary and more about the contributions of Dietrich Bonhoeffer. It is the anniversary of John Calvin and of Chopin…both significant events in the KER (Kosciol Ewangelico Reformowany) and in the town of Zychlin. Also included will be “work” days in which the group will help build a gazebo on a vary small church property in Lodz and with Loaves and Fishes and the Bible Garden bread oven and smokehouse project in Zychlin, plus some time in conversational English language practice with children and/or adults who are learning English.
This pilgrimage is sponsored by the Stewardship and Mission Interpretation Unit of Upper Midwest Region of Christian Church (Disciple of Christ). To follow the group on their journey, please save the following link to their blog as one of your favorites: http://poland10.wordpress.com/
